All trace of lateral ditches has beenobliterated by trackways and former cultivation, butthe present conformation of the ground shows thatthese ditches did not run round the ends. It is situatedin Piddinghoe parish, on the crest of a spur which risesin a westerly direction from Deans, and it lies in theregion of the 100 feet contour. 1(>() LONG HARROWS IN SUSSEX That this barrow has been badly excavated in quiterecent years is suggested by a modern-looking trench,which runs nearly the whole length of the crest (indi-cated on plan by dot-and-dash line).
