WithAmberley it was given to St. Wilfrid in the seventh century, it was part ofAmberley Manor at the time of the Custumal in Liber P (f. 51-63), which Ibelieve to be of the middle of the thirteenth century, it is only natural tosuppose that it was included under Amberley in the Domesday Survey. 21 Chichester Episcopal MSS., Liber C, f. 122, r. 214 HOUGHTON PLACE that one of these was the owner of the then new-builtHoughton Place.
