Description
English: Pen and ink drawing of Surtof on the Kahun road by Dr. Rupert (Robert) Kirk, dated 15th May 1840. This is one of 95 drawings (90 folios), chiefly of landscapes and monuments in the Deccan, West India and Afghanistan made between 1821 and 1844 by George Boyd. Three of the drawings in the album are by Kirk who was Assistant Surgeon and later Surgeon in 1830-52 and served in Afghanistan 1839-40 with the 1st Grenadier Regiment, Bombay Native Infantry. This drawing is for plate 2 of R. Kirk,' Views of defiles and mountain passes in Affghanistan' (London, 1841)
