Description |
English: The Suquamish tribe has lived on the Kitsap Peninsula and fished in the waters of Puget Sound since long before Seattle was a city. After Seattle was founded, members of the tribe frequently visited the city to conduct business.
In this photo, a group of Suquamish Indians waits in front of Seattle's Colman Dock for the steamer which will take them partway home to the Port Madison Reservation. Tribal members have identified the people as (l. to r.) Dr. Peter, Charlie Youkton, Mrs. Chief Jacob, Chief Jacob Wahelchu, [unknown], and Mary Adams.
