| Description | The Supreme Court of Canada building, Ottawa. More pictures of this building appear in my Ottawa Nov. 2012 album. The Supreme Court of Canada is the highest court of Canada, the final court of appeals in the Canadian justice system. The court grants permission to between 40 and 75 litigants each year to appeal decisions rendered by provincial, territorial and federal appellate courts. The building is renowned for its Art Deco decorative details and also contains two court rooms used by both the Federal Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Appeal. Construction began in 1939, with the cornerstone laid by Queen Elizabeth. (Ottawa, Canada, June 2015) |
