Description
English: Composite of 3 images describing from left to right: Classic, low precipitation (LP) and high precipitation (HP) supercells as viewed from the side. One can see in the cumulonimbus the position of :
  • O : overshooting top
  • A : the anvil
  • M: the mammatus clouds
  • I: inflow bands of clouds
  • B: the rain-free base
  • W: the wall cloud
  • P: the precipitation
  • T: the tail cloud
  • F: the flanking line
  • FC: Possible funnel cloud
Français : Mosaïque de trois images qui montrent de gauche à droite les trois types de supercellules orageuses : classique, à faible précipitations (LP) et à forte précipitations (HP). Les lettres dans les graphiques sont reliés à divers items d'une tel cumulonimbus, soit:
  • O : dôme probubérant ;
  • A : enclume ;
  • M : mamma ;
  • I : les bandes montant le flux entrant dans le nuage ;
  • B : la base du nuage sans précipitations ;
  • W : le mur de nuages (ou nuage-mur) ;
  • P : les précipitations ;
