Description Taken from near the Mangatepopo Hut looking up the Mangatepopo Valley towards the notorious Devil's Staircase section of the Tongariro Alpine Crossing. I like how the low angle of the sun light brings out the ruggedness of Pukekaikiore on the right. Pity the peak of Ngauruhoe was covered in cloud - I waited in vain for the cloud to move away but it never did.
