Description Original caption: "
Another interesting “old streetcar” photo, this time for two reasons. First the Queen car, westbound at Spadina, is “overflowing” with soldiers probably home “on leave” during the Great War. The original photo was labeled in pencil 1916. However, even more interesting is the presence of a baby carriage (look closely) hanging on a hook affixed to the rear of the car. This was a “public service” offered by the Toronto Railway Co. However, the new TTC got rid of this tradition soon after it was established in the fall of 1921 as an obvious safety measure. Wonder how often the streetcar took off before the carriage was recovered from the hook? PHOTO BY MIKE FILEY COLLECTION
