utiful Mirror Lake, in whose clear waters the surrounding heightsare reflected, while great domes, spires and pinnacles of rock, such as El Captain, the HalfDome, and Cloud Rest, stand guard over this storehouse of Natures beauties. The famous Mariposa Grove of Big Trees is reached by a delightful daylight stage ridefrom the Yosemite Valley. They are said to be the largest and oldest living things in theworld, growing to an altitude of 340 feet and circumference of 100. They are probably morethan 3,000 years old. LAKE TAHOE This lake, located about fourteen miles south of Truckee, is one of the most beautifulin the world. It lies in the heart of the Sierras, 6,280 feet above the sea level, and is com-pletely hemmed in by mountains. It is twenty-three miles long and fourteen miles wide andfrom 100 to 3,000 feet deep. The water is so clear that the bottom of the lake can be seen ata depth of from sixty to seventy feet. There are many attractive resorts about the lake andfishing is good.
