Description |
Summer dress made from Indian silk, presumably embroided in England in Indian style, tailored in the Netherlands. The dress originates from the Hof te Dieren, the hunting lodge of the House of Orange in Dieren, which burnt down during the French occupation (1795-1815). The dress is said to have been worn by Princess Anne, the wife of William IV, Prince of Orange. The dress was rescued from fire by the guardian of the Hof te Dieren, Abraham Elie Palairet, but was never reclaimed afterwards. |
