Summary
[edit]DescriptionSultan Abdul Hamid I mausoleum Cemetery in 2014 6084.jpg |
English: The Türbe (Mausoleum) of Sultan Abdül Hamit I (reigned 1774-1789). Buried with him is his son, the mad Sultan Mustafa IV, who was the second imperial lunatic to bear the name Mustafa, who was responsible for the murder of his son Selim III and nearly executed in bringing about the execution of his younger brother, Mahmut II. Mustafa was eventually deposed on 28-7-1808 and was himself executed three months later.
I liked the spot because it has a quiet little garden, well, graveyard, in an otherwise busy part of town, full of cats. In 2023 I thought the number of cats had declined. |
