Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The Hazreti Süleyman Mosque (Mosque of the Prophet Solomon) in the İç Kale‎ (Inner Fortress) of Diyarbakır, the citadel located in the northeastern corner of the walled city. The mosque compound includes the tombs of 27 Companions of the Prophet Muhammad who died when the Muslims conquered Amida in the 7th century. These tombs are a site of pilgrimage. Inscriptions date the mosque to the 12th century, though it's also known as the Nasiriye Mosque due to another account saying it was founded a little earlier by the Marwanid ruler Nasr.
