Summary

[edit]
Description

Relief: Landsat 8 (30 m Sensor), 2015, U.S. Geological Survey.

English: 19 Subfluvial karst springs, Peloponnese. The springs emerge at the river bed or its banks. All conduits and porous structures in the groundwater of the karstic Parnon mountains have their hydrological base level for discharge at the impermeable “Pellana”-polje floor (5km wide close depression, well cultivated) and at the river Eurotas. During floods, all springs are submerged. Subfluvial springs are relatively rare and poorly documented. Four springs have large water yields.
