English: Soldiers from the 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 2nd Infantry Division, out of Joint Base Lewis-McCord, Wash., utilize skills and share strategies with the 2nd Singapore Infantry Regiment for two weeks in July during Exercise Lightning Strike in Singapore. The soldiers utilized the Murai Urban Training Facility to conduct mobile operations in an urban environment. The soldiers dismounted Terrex Infantry Carrier Vehicles then continued with door-to-door reconnaissance. Lightning Strike, for the first time, was conducted simultaneously with the command post exercise Tiger Balm. The two military exercises are meant to allow the armies to become familiar with each other's techniques, tactics and procedures as well as foster cultural relations. This year the exercises are separate, but in the following years they will be combined and coordinated together into a larger more complex training scenario.
