Summary

[edit]
Description The geyser Strokkur, in the Geysir Hot Spring Area, which is a c. 3 km² area of boiling mud pits and exploding geysers, running 500m along the tectonic plate line. Strokkur is the most active of the areas geysers, spouting water up to 30m (100 ft) every few minutes. It is next to the once famous Geysir, which gave its name to ‘geysers’ and could apparently reach the height of 170m, but is now mostly dormant.
