Summary

[edit]
Description
English: The striated babbler, classified within the family Leiothrichidae, is a bird species native to southern Asia, spanning from Pakistan to Myanmar. Initially assigned to the genus Turdoides, a comprehensive molecular phylogenetic study conducted in 2018 resulted in its reclassification to the resurrected genus Argya. This brown babbler features a finely streaked back and crown, distinctive bright yellow eyes, and a subtle pale "moustache." Typically social, these birds are often observed in flocks as they navigate lowland reedbeds, wet grassy areas, and scrub. Their vocalizations include sparrow-like "chirrup" sounds and sharp "pee-cheer" calls.
