Summary

[edit]
Description
English: W. Vermont at Meridian, around the corner from the lovely (but troubling) World War memorial. In a way, it's more painful to find blocks like this in mid-sized American downtowns than to not find them. This block's existence testifies that Indianapolis had an urban past, a fact which doesn't jibe with the city's relentlessly suburbanized present. The block stands opposed to arguments about the city's relative youth: a true up-and-comer would have been an insignificant village back when these were in fashion.
