DescriptionStreetcars on the West Boston Bridge, 1900s.jpg |
English: The West Boston Bridge (later Longfellow Bridge) shortly after its completion. This view faces east to Boston; the shadows and open streetcars imply a summer evening. The streetcar at center is from North Cambridge via Beacon Street; the streetcar at right runs via Arsenal Street and Hanover Street, probably between Watertown and the north waterfront. The tracks for the Cambridge Tunnel line have not yet been constructed in the reserved median, indicating this is in the first few years of the bridge's operation. |
