| Description |
English: A business car, painted in Strasburg Rail Road colors, at the station in Strasburg. It is named for Paradise, the site of the railroad's connection to the Pensylvania Railroad (though tourist excursions do not stop there).
When I was young, I would have called it an observation car. It might have more lavish accommodations or be set up as a lounge, in which case it could be a parlor car. Cars like this with a rear platform were sometimes the last car on an express steam train. However, many of these were private cars for railroad executives and other notables. This car was built in 1913 for the Reading railroad, for executives. |
