Description
English: Storm Daniel, visible in this image acquired today, 6 September, at 08:48 UTC, is causing devastating floods in Greece, Türkiye, and Bulgaria. There are at least seven casualties, including two tourists in northwestern Türkiye. In Istanbul, the heavy rainfall resulted in flooded streets and homes, claiming two lives. Greece experienced record rainfall, leading to road closures and one casualty. Overflowing rivers caused severe damage to roads and bridges in Bulgaria, with two deaths and three missing. The Copernicus Sentinel satellites provide valuable data to identify and delineate the extent of affected areas when floods occur and to monitor the consequences of such catastrophic events.
