English: 7 November 2012. How far do parking charges deter potential customers from using shops on Tottenham High Road?
This parking meter is one of several dozen along Stoneleigh Road close to High Road Tottenham. (It's not in the large Stoneleigh Road carparks.) Like other meters along this road, it accepts a minimum payment of 20 pence for which the motorist gets seven minutes. Some of which will be needed to walk back to open their car and display the ticket on the dashboard. Some Tottenham residents and traders have been meeting with local councillors, staff from Haringey Council, Transport for London, and other agencies to discuss ways of improving the High Road and nearby streets in the Bruce Grove/ Holcombe Market part of High Road Tottenham. Parking is a contentious issue here as in many other towns and cities. A number of residents and traders think carparking charges should be very low for short stay. I agree and think that parking spaces in Stoneleigh Road should be free for a brief period.
