DescriptionStone water trough, Mankinholes - geograph.org.uk - 94331.jpg |
English: Stone water trough, Mankinholes. This is a long trough formed by four linked rectangular troughs with to each end a square stone with a circular basin with an exit for water. These basins were used for cooling milk churns until the 1970s. The trough is fed by stone channelled gutter to the centre. It is on a former packhorse way through the village and was probably made in the 18C. |
