Summary
[edit]DescriptionSto. Domingo, Albay church (S. Ciencia) - Flickr.jpg |
The town of Libog was founded in 1749. There is an account of Andres Bonifacio staying in the town and having a child with a local woman. His statue stands in front of the municipal government building today instead of the usual Jose Rizal. Libog is the hometown of Potenciano Gregorio who composed the immortal Bicolano love song "Sarung Banggi". It was renamed as Sto. Domingo in 1959 in honor of its patron saint. There are no records on when the town's colonial church was built.
