Summary

[edit]
Description

Amongst the first locomotives Stirling designed for the GNR in 1867, the GNR Class E3 2-4-0s were designed to haul slow passenger, fast parcel, and special goods traffic. Twenty two E3s were built between 1867-71, with more batches being built up to 1895. No 209 may belong to a batch built at Doncaster between 1884-95.

This photo was taken from an old original photo we came across while helping to clear the house of a deceased friend. I have uploaded it to Flickr in the hope that it might be interesting to steam enthusiasts.
