| Description | The lower foothills of the Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park are mainly covered in Wyoming big sagebrush steppe but with openings (old burns?) sometime nearly completely dominated by Stipa comata. In winter condition, this species is distinctive because the sheath of the flag leaf opens up and falls away from the main stem, thus rendering an abundance of conspicuously long broad leaves. |
