Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Stinkhorn (Phallus impudicus) An unmistakable fungus commonly found in woods and gardens, easily detected by its horrible smell, like bad drains. The young fruit body is like a jelly-covered egg from which rises the stout white stem topped with a slimy, dark green mass of spores. Flies, attracted by the smell, feed on the spores, thus revealing the white honeycomb texture underneath. The young egg is edible, but said to be an acquired taste.
