Description
English: The U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Enterprise (CV-6) under construction at Newport News Shipbuilding and Drydock Corporation, Newport News, Virginia (USA), on 22 November 1937. Note the letters "PRISE" of "ENTERPRISE" on the stern, to right.
The Norwegian motor tanker M.V. Leiesten (1930, 6118 grt) is visible in the background. She was sunk by the German submarine U-82 in the Atlantic Ocean on 23 January 1942. U-82 itself was sunk two weeks later.
