Summary

[edit]
Description

Introduced, warm-season, perennial, mat-forming grass; with thick, rigid stolons and to 40 cm tall. A native form does exist, but has almost entirely

been replaced by sterile South African forms. Most common on sandy soils, but is capable of growing on a wide range of soil types. Widely planted as turf, but also occurs naturally in coastal pastures that are affected by salt or have good moisture. Tolerant of shade and wet areas. Often found under trees.
