Description |
Français : La stèle est dédiée par un citoyen romain à Cybèle, comme l'indique l'épitaphe en grec. La déesse tient une phiale et peut-être un agneau, victime du sacrifice. L'épiclèse « Matyéné » est spécifique au sanctuaire de Philadelphia. À la différence des représentations traditionnelles qui la montrent assise, un lion couché à ses pieds, Cybèle adopte ici une apparence presque mortelle, plus proche de ses adorateurs. |
