Animal characteristics: Head-Body Length: 70-95 cm; Height: 45-60 cm; Weight: 10-15 kg; Identification: The steenbok has a reddish-fawn coat with white-lined ears; Habitat: Lightly wooded plains; Diet: Herbivore: buds, new shoots; Reproduction: Gestation lasts six months. A single fawn is born each breeding season. Steenbok can live up to 10 years; Social Structure: Both males and females are solitary animals, although males are usually territorial; Behavior: Steenbok are most active in the morning and evening; Status: No special status; Interesting Facts: Predators of the steenbok include leopards, cheetahs, caracals, wild dogs, hyenas, pythons, and the martial eagle.
