Description Male Steatoda nobilis found shading under garden umbrella, Hampshire, England. This is a photo of a mature male ready to mate. You can see his pedipalps (the mouth feelers)which have expanded into carrot shaped balloons to accommodate a sperm covered silk sheet, ready for mating.
