Built by J.H. Johnston in Portland and sold March 27, 1901 to H.B. Kennedy of the Puget Sound Navigation Company. Contract price was $4,935. Length 112.4' Beam 19.7' Depth 7' Gross tonnage 157 Net tonnage 104. ATHLON operated on the Port Orchard - Seattle and Bremerton Navy Yard - Seattle route until 1914.

1914: ATHLON operated by the Liberty Bay Transportation Co., an independent service competing on the Poulsbo - Seattle run.

August 1, 1921: Puget Sound steamer ATHLON, operated by the Poulsbo Transportation Co. and in charge of Capt. Roy McMasters, struck Ludlow Rocks at the entrance to Port Ludlow in heavy fog. Ship total loss, 9 passengers and crew safely reached shore.

"on Navy Yard Route" means on the run between Downtown Seattle and the Navy Yard at Bremerton on the Kitsap Peninsula. This is still a Washington State Ferries route from the current Colman Dock over a century later.
