Summary
[edit]DescriptionSteam train at Waterside - 1970 (1) (geograph 3477422).jpg |
English: Steam train at Waterside - 1970 (1) Preserved ex-GNR(I) 4.4.0 No. 171 "Slieve Gullion" sits inside the Waterside train shed after working the "Colmcille" railtour from Belfast (York Road). This gives a good impression of the train shed before the destruction of the 1972 bomb. In front of 171 is an ex-LMS (NCC) brake coach, then in use for parcels traffic to Larne Harbour. Behind 171 is a "North Atlantic" coach, built by the LMS(NCC) in 1934 for express passenger services between Belfast (York Road) and Portrush. One "North Atlantic" corridor brake 3rd survives in preservation. |
