| Description |
English: Steam engine, Gale & Co, Horndean This nice inverted vertical duplex is claimed to be off a ferry and the presence of a support for the weighshaft supports that hypothesis. The flywheel appears earlier than the engine and is probably reused (marine engines don't need flywheels). The flywheel appears composite with wrought spokes and a cast rim. Is that enough rivet counting for one caption?
The engine had been removed to Eastney in the 1980s and later returned to its original site in the brewery. It's current status is unknown as the brewery is closed. |
