Summary

[edit]
Description
English: This image appears to be an early steam shovel. The Marion Steam Shovel Company and the Bucyrus Foundry and Manufacturing Company, both founded in Ohio in the late 1800s, were renowned for manufacturing excavating equipment. A wagon and team of horses are shown waiting to haul away a load of excavated dirt and stone. At the time this image was printed in the Norwester magazine in June 1918, the Upper Arlington community was burgeoning. New streets were being paved to accommodate the growing population, and new homes were being built in rapid succession.
