English: This Steam Locomotive, manufactured by Dubs & Co, England in 1888 is displayed at Visvesvaraya Industrial & Technological Museum, Bangalore. This was initially used by Southern Mahratta Railways (SMR), which later on merged with Mysore Railways and eventually with Indian Railways. The engine was operational till 1960, when it was donated to the Museum. MG-Steam Locomotive:
This F-class metre gauge steam engine was more popular among early steam locomotives. It was later modified with larger boilers and altered with increased coal capacity. It has a smoke tube boiler and Stephenson valve gear. The engine cylinder is 14 inches in diameter and 20 inches stroke. It hauled maximum load at 16 kmph on a gradient of 1 in 100. Class: FM/A Type: 0-6-0 No.: 037311 Engine length: 23 ft 9 inches. Tender length: 16 ft 5 inches. Weight: 41 tonnes. Boiler pressure: 160 psi |
