Summary
[edit]DescriptionSteam Dredger Clearway, Whitehaven - geograph.org.uk - 716396.jpg |
English: Steam Dredger Clearway, Whitehaven We were looking forward to a trip on this still working 1927 grab hopper dredger but the weather thwarted us. It was so rough they had moved it as far in to the harbour as possible and it hadn't sailed for a few weeks. Steam was up and the main engine was gently turned - a sorry parody. I never did get a trip (usually 12 hours). It's now scrap but the engine is in Norway for a preservation project. I used the satellite to nail this view. The silos are gone but the building with the four pitches to the roof is still there. |
