Description
English: Statue of kouros. Parian marble. Found at the sanctuary of Ptoan Apollo in Boeotia. Slightly under-lifesize, the kouros is a votive offering to "Apollo with the silver bow" by Pytheas and Aeschrion, as is recorded in the inscription incised on his thighs. One of the last kouroi of Ptoon group, showing an advanced rendering of the body. About 500 B.C. Inv. no. 20. National Archaeological Museum of Athens. Textː Museum inscription.
