Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Statue of Robert Fergusson, (1750-1774) This recent statue of Fergusson stands at the entrance to the Canongate Kirk on the Royal Mile. Fergusson was a greatly respected poet who wrote in both Scots and English but alas led a dissolute lifestyle and he ended his short life in an asylum. His verse was admired by Robert Burns who found him an inspiration and who paid for a headstone on his grave in the kirkyard here.
