English: Statue of Jonah's Wife at Turvey There are two statues on the island overlooked by Turvey bridge. This statue is known as Jonah's Wife. The headless female torso was discovered in a nearby barn and erected in 1953 by the then owner of Turvey Mill (shown in another view within this square and which includes Jonah himself). For some unknown reason a bearded male head was added to the torso - some wife, but she is Grade II listed! |
