Description
Nederlands: Aan Gabrielle Petit neergeschoten door de Duitsers op 1 april 1916 en ter nagedachtenis aan de Belgische vrouwen die voor hun land stierven "... en ik zal hen laten zien hoe een Belgische vrouw weet hoe ze moet sterven".
Ik ben net ter dood veroordeeld. Ik word morgen neergeschoten. Lang leve de koning. Lang leve België.
Dit monument is opgericht via een nationale gift op initiatief van de Liga van Patriotten.
English: To Gabrielle Petit shot by Germans on April 1, 1916 and in memory of the Belgian women who died for their country "... and I will show them how a Belgian woman knows how to die".
I have just been sentenced to death. I'll be shot tomorrow. Long live the King. Long live Belgium.
This monument was erected by a national grant at the initiative of the League of Patriots.
Français : A Gabrielle Petit fusillée par des Allemands le 1 avril 1916 et a la mémoire des femmes Belges mortes pour la patrie "... et je leurs montrerai comment une femme Belge sait mourir".
Je viens d'être condamnée à mort. Je serai fusillée demain. Vive le Roi. Vive la Belgique.
Ce monument a été érige par souscription nationale à l'initiative de la Ligue des Patriotes.
Deutsch: Gabrielle Petit, die am 1. April 1916 von Deutschen erschossen wurde, zum Andenken an die belgischen Frauen, die für ihr Land gestorben sind "... und ich werde ihnen zeigen, wie eine Belgierin weiß, wie man stirbt".
Ich wurde gerade zum Tode verurteilt. Ich werde morgen erschossen. Lang lebe der König. Es lebe Belgien.
Dieses Denkmal wurde auf Initiative der Patriotenliga durch nationale Spenden errichtet.
