Title
English: Statistics of the Territory of Washington, 1886
Description
English:

These statistics from 1886 were compiled from the Records of the Office of the Territorial Secretary, during the period that Watson C. Squire held the Territorial Governorship. Statistics compiled here include, among many others: County Seats, Vote totals, Vote on each side of the mountain, and names of County Surveyors and School Superintendents. Women's Suffrage was granted in 1883 in Washington Territory by the Legislature. This compilation notes that "7330 votes were cast by women at our elections held Nov. 20, 1886. It is also estimated that there is no less than 18,000 females eligible to vote." Yet in 1887, the Washington Territorial Supreme Court overturned the 1883 law and women did not regain the right to vote in Washington until 1910.
