Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Station Square, Harrogate, c1970 The dark-coloured buildings were some in Cambridge Street just as it ended in Station Parade with one shop being identifiable as Saxone Footwear (on the corner of Beulah St?). The clock tower is that of the Market.

The cars on the left include an Austin 1800, Ford Cortina Mk I and Ford Classic; and possibly a Mini just hidden from view.

In the gardens between the Victoria statue and Cambridge Street were underground public toilets.

The statue of Queen Victoria was presented in 1887 by Alderman Richard Ellis, to the recently-formed Borough of Harrogate in the year of the Queen's Golden Jubilee.
