| Description |
English: The dumping shown in the photo on 6 January 2008 was removed by the Council's contractors - probably on 10 January. Which created space for someone to dump a fridge-freezer and a TV.
The orange notice is a Council Aware sticker which threatens a maximum fine of £2,500. It fails to say that both fridge-freezer and TV are items which Haringey Enterprise - the Council's contractors - will remove for free. (It takes just one phonecall.) It's gobsmackingly obvious to anyone with a fridge in their kitchen, that fridges make good noticeboards. (Dozens of Flickr groups are devoted to different aspects of the fridge-magnet; that overlooked and undervalued artefact of late 20th century art.) In September 2007, I suggested to Haringey Waste Management that a fridge dumped on the street could be used as a temporary signboard with a more informative sticker. |
