[edit]DescriptionStateLibQld 2 201531 Rain making equipment, Charleville, 1947.jpg |
English: Rain making equipment, Charleville, 1947.
The 'Stiger-Vortex-Gun' was an idea from Professor Clement Wragge, a Queensland meteorologist who had 10 guns build in Brisbane and taken to Charleville in an attempt to break the drought. Guns were then placed in different parts of the town and on 2 September, 1902, gunpowder was emptied into the breech of each gun and then detonated. No rain fell. |
