English: Returned World War Two soldiers march in Queen Street, Brisbane, 1944
A march down Queen Street on Tuesday, 8 August 1944, by the uniformed men of the Seventh Division, an elite A.I.F (Australian Imperial Force) Unit which had seen action in Greece, Crete, Syria and the Western Desert. A quarter of a million people were estimated to have seen the march, setting new peaks for attendance at any parade staged in Brisbane. The division marched in full battle dress carrying either rifles and fixed bayonets or Owen guns. (Description supplied with photograph). |
