English: Leslie Gordon Corrie (1859-1918).
Mayor of Brisbane from 1902-1903. Leslie Gordon Corrie was born in Hobart in 1859. He was articled to a Hobart architect and worked as an architect in Launceston until 1886. After moving to Brisbane and forming a Partnership with his former Tasmanian employer, Henry Hunter, he practiced as Hunter and Corrie. Later, in 1898, he joined with another leading architect, G. H. M. Addison. Corrie was one of the founders of the Queensland Institute of Architects in 1887, and served as Vice-President of that body in 1901 .At the elections of 1902, Corrie was persuaded to stand for the Brisbane City Council and was elected. He was elected Mayor of Brisbane and held this position during 1902 and 1903. He died in 1918. |
