Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Staring Death in the Face at Whitcombe This tomb in Whitcombe churchyard is decorated with a skull and instead of the usual cross bones there is a crossed pick and shovel. Perhaps he was a builder? The eyes are either very well preserved or a later addition. The inscription is difficult to read but appears to belong to a man named Gillet who died in 1680.
