English: Children take turns sitting in an F/18 Hornet static display prior to the start of The Star-Spangled Spectacular Air Show at Martin State Airport, featuring the U.S. Navy‘s flight demonstration squadron, the Blue Angels. The air show was part of the City of Baltimore's Star Spangled Spectacular, an event celebrating the bicentennial of the Battle of Baltimore which provided the backdrop for Francis Scott Key's famous poem, "Defence of Fort McHenry," which later became America's national anthem. More than 30 ships from the U.S. and foreign nations, and the U.S. Navy's Blue Angels aircraft were on display and open to the public.(U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication Specialist 1st Class Amy Kirk/Released) |
