Summary

[edit]
Description
English: Stanrigg disaster memorial. Memorial to 19 miners killed in a subsidence accident in July 1918. The seams were only about 20m below the surface, today the coalfield is surface mined, and there was an inrush of bog from the surface. The memorial is hard to find now as it is no longer beside a road, the road being closed by opencast mining. Best way in is to walk from West Arbuckle. 1492657
